A few years ago I was part of a typical American family. A wife, son, daughter and a dog. My daughter was to begin her freshman year at U.of Arkansas, so my wife and son helped her load up the car and the three of them were off to help her get settled. I was on-call with my job so I stayed home. They didn't make it. A tragic accident cost the three of them their lives. I was devestated. Now my family consisted of me and a mutt named ZigZag. This mutt slept at the garage door for months waiting for his family that would never come home. Life goes on. Time dulls the heart-ache. I come home from work, the dog greets me at the door, we hang out together,he licks my face and I smile. Today I had to put Zig to sleep. He had been diagnosed earlier this year with cancer so I knew this day was coming. I thank God for the comfort this animal has given me. I will miss him a lot. RIP
